Supporting the People's Orchestra on BBC Four

Posted by: Mark Jones 30 Aug 16 - 6:05PM  | Recruitment

As part of our local charity activities, Jonathan Lee Recruitment is proud to support The People's Orchestra, an independent Sandwell-based music charity which uses music performance to help grow musician and community wellbeing in one of the most deprived areas of the UK.

We are really excited that our partners have been chosen to be part of All Together Now: The Great Orchestra Challenge, a nationwide search for the orchestra that best captures the spirit of amateur music making in the UK that airs on BBC Four for the first time at 9.00pm on Tuesday 30th August 2016.

Jayne Wogan, Head of Client Services for Jonathan Lee comments, "The whole team is behind the People's Orchestra, not only for the BBC competition but in everything they do. It's wonderful to support a charity that brings so much joy but also has practical outreach programmes that truly support their community."

The orchestra is made up of a diverse mix of talented musicians who come together to create and perform shows in venues across the midlands. With no limit to instrumentation and including a growing saxophone section, the orchestra presents a repertoire of film, TV, games, show and light popular music, and attracts a high percentage of new audience members who have never seen an orchestra play live before.

Volunteers manage all aspects of the orchestra including a wide range of outreach events and a very successful ‘Steps to Work’ programme, supported by Jonathan Lee Recruitment which helps local unemployed people back into work. The People’s Orchestra believe that if people challenge themselves, reach for their goals and believe in what they are doing, they can change their lives and the lives of those around them for the better and we at Jonathan Lee completely agree!!
