New factory a boost to UK automotive industry

Posted by: Mark Bignell 21 Feb 13 - 5:02PM  | Automotive
Although this isn't the first time it has been announced, there was a renewed focus today on 'The Proving Factory', a part government-funded site based outside Rotherham.

"With a £21.8m investment from the £125m Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) fund, along with help from the private sector, The Proving Factory is a collaborative effort by major companies in the sector and will result in a combination of skills and knowledge to manufacture innovative components at Tata Steel’s Brinsworth site in Rotherham and an assembly facility in the West Midlands."

You can take a look at the rest of the article here, but I have to say that this is a positive step for the industry as there's no good reason at all that we shouldn't be doing more of this within the UK.

Above all, this is an encouraging boost for jobs.

How can other industries benefit?
