Kickstart programme a boon for architects and technical staff

It has been a tough few years for architects, technical staff and house builders but chinks of light are starting to appear. This is due in large part to the money being poured in to house building schemes by the Government’s Kickstart programme which involves almost a billion pounds of public funding being spent getting stalled housing projects off the ground. Importantly this has not just benefited large developers like Persimmon and Barratt, but also small architectural firms and suppliers up and down the country.

Gareth Simpson, Recruitment Consultant - Construction and Design, explains: “The Kickstart scheme has been a really positive development for architectural firms in England, with work that would otherwise have been mothballed coming on stream this year. This has helped maintain and create roles right through the supply chain.”

“As of October, money had been released for 2,750 homes across 37 schemes and our experience has been that small architectural firms are benefiting directly from this. Winning contracts gives these firms hiring muscle, which can only be good news for architects and technical staff at all levels. With more schemes likely to be approved in the coming months, architects can go into the New Year with renewed confidence.”
