Representing the engineering and technical recruitment industry
Chester Boothe, Sales Director at Jonathan Lee Contracts Limited was
recently named as Vice-Chair of the
Recruitment and Employment
Confederation’s Engineering and Technical sector (REC E&T). The REC E&T is
the executive body representing recruitment agencies that operate in the
manufacturing, electrical and mechanical, and civil engineering disciplines.
Chester’s position means he will play an important part in driving through
the REC E&T manifesto for 2010, as well as listening to the concerns of the
wider recruitment industry and articulating these to the REC executive - who
in turn lobby government on behalf of its wider membership.
The group meets monthly at the REC heaquarters in London, and holds regional
member meetings giving agencies across the country the chance to take part
in panel discussions, listen to speakers from the industry and speak
directly to their own REC E&T representative.
Three issues that Chester and the group are keen to address are the impact
of the Agency Workers Directive - the impact of the forthcoming public
sector cuts and the chronic skill shortages within engineering.
“We live in very uncertain times which makes it more important than ever
that recruiters air their concerns”, says Chester Boothe. “The REC E&T
sector plays a vital role in representing recruiters within the engineering
and technical sectors and will allow our members’ voices to be heard by
legislators both in Europe and at home.”
