Merger
forms new trade body The A|D|S was launched with much fanfare at a black tie event in London in January. The new trade body for the Aerospace, Defence and Securities industries has been formed by the merger of SBAC, APPSS and the DMA with the aim of further advancing these important industries in the UK. Together with its regional partners, A|D|S represents over 2,600 companies in industries that are among the most high-value, high-tech sectors of the UK economy. Their success generates billions of pounds for the economy and employs hundreds of thousands of people across all regions of the UK. The products developed and delivered by these sectors support our armed forces, help to keep our country safe, allow its citizens to travel and trade freely and lead the fight against climate change. Present at the launch event, along with over 70 other industry figures, were Kay Alexander and Matthew Heath from Jonathan Lee Recruitment together with Mike South and Mike Woodhouse from the executive search arm of the Jonathan Lee Group, Factura. Commenting on the launch, Matthew Heath said: “The birth of A|D|S is a strong statement that the UK’s combined defence, security and aerospace industries are of real strategic importance. For aerospace in particular, I believe that A|D|S will continue the good work of SBAC in advancing the industry’s interests in an ever more competitive global marketplace. The UK is second only to the US in terms of people employed in the Aerospace industry and it is vital that we retain that position.” Jonathan Lee Recruitment and Factura Executive Search, as respected members of SBAC and the DMA, have a long history of supporting the industry, including recruiting for SBAC itself and carrying out Committee work to help the industry attract and develop its key skilled people. |
